Mission: To nurture and promote the cultural spirit of Africa in the Diaspora

Greetings. Pray all is well. Just to let you know that I am thinking of you and pray you will consider joining our Tour to Ghana, West Africa this September 6-20, 2004. This is our third tour and each time it gets better. So much to see and do. As you know, I have worked and lived in Africa for many years as a Peace Corps Volunteer teacher of Mathematics in Sierra Leone, West Africa and as a diplomat with the U.S. Department of State in Madagascar, Mali, Nigeria and Liberia. My cousin Theresa Kwakye married my best Ghanaian friend and have lived in Ghana for the past twenty years with her family. Of course, I am from down-the-railroad track in a small town in Georgia call Newnan. Actually, Newnan has become quite a little city not far from the big city, Atlanta. For a country boy, I feel I have done my share of traveling.

For those of you who come with us on the tour and consider yourselves adventurous, I invite you to travel (home) with me after a few days in Ghana, to the ancient Empire of Mali (the country where Timbuktu is located). You may download the flyer, brochure and info about the Ghana tour from our website:

B.E.T. (Black Entertainment Television) has videoed
our recent Washington, DC exhibition/presentations..

In addition, I wish to share with you our good news. We (Jah Kente International) are being blessed. B.E.T. (Black Entertainment Television) has videoed our recent Washington, DC exhibition/presentations at Union Temple Baptist Church, April 30 th for Queen Mother & Co-Pastor Rev. Mary L. Wilson “Special Celebration”, and the downtown Washington, DC Grand Hyatt Hotel’s Independence Ball Room for the 31 st Pastoral Anniversary Gala for the Rev. Willie F. Wilson. The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan was the guest speaker. For this event we placed a hand-carved wooden unity stand as centerpiece on each of the one hundred tables in the Ball Room-a wonderful display of art. Most recently, B.E.T. videoed our last presentation on May 13 th at Luke C. Moore Academy, SHS where I speak annually to the senior class during their International Day event. This year’s theme was: “Expanding Horizons, Strengthening International Ties.” Soon B.E.T. will do a one-on-one interview and finally a professional marketing video/documentary will culminate the project. Pray for our mission: To nurture and promote the cultural spirit of Africa in the Diaspora.

Peace. Rufus T. Stevenson (Tiefing)
